Irregular Order: How Congress Really Works

Role: Designer


I designed this presentation deck to accompany ProPublica’s live event “Irregular Order: How Congress Really Works,” presented in partnership with the New York Public Library and The Washington Post. Hosted by comedian, actor and writer Wyatt Cenac, Washington insiders joined journalists from ProPublica and The Washington Post to show how the “Schoolhouse Rock” legislative model no longer reflects the actual, radically altered mechanics of Congress.

Event Materials

Role: Designer, Video Editor

ProPublica’s virtual and in-person events bring investigative journalism to life. Working closely with ProPublica’s Head of Marketing, Director of Communications, Design Director, and events team, I produce all of the organization’s events materials. This includes social media graphics, zoom backgrounds, printed flyers, and ads. I also create videos from event footage, including branded recordings of each event and clips for social media.

 
 
 
 
 

How Bad Science is Corrupting
the Justice System

Role: Designer

Digital and print materials promoting a panel ProPublica held in partnership with the Charles Hamilton Houston Institute for Race & Justice and New York Times Magazine at Harvard Law School. Featuring all-women panelists, the discussion explored how faulty forensic science is corrupting the American legal system.

To promote the event, ProPublica’s Director of Marketing requested design for a flyer (digital and print), a social media asset, an email, and a backdrop to be projected at the event, so I created a flexible, attention-grabbing design that functioned across a variety of formats.

Report to Stakeholders

Role: Designer

ProPublica’s hard-hitting stories drive real, measurable change: corrupt politicians are ousted, new bills adopted, unfair policies amended.

I’ve been proud to highlight these accomplishments as layout designer of ProPublica's quarterly stakeholder reports, 15 page PDFs that outline the nonprofit newsroom's impact.

With input from ProPublica’s Design Director, Marketing Director, and Editorial Experience Director, I produced on-brand layouts that follow a clean, straightforward format.

Tying together reporting retrospectives, facts and figures, accolades, testimonials, photography, and illustrations, I aimed to deliver comprehensive, visually balanced, easy-to-read reports that allow ProPublica’s many accomplishments to speak for themselves.
